Description

You will work with outreach activities, advice, and administration to increase the number of wetland measures in Blekinge County.

The position is part of a smaller team working with wetlands.

Restoring wetlands is an important part of the work to strengthen biodiversity, increase the landscape's resilience to drought and water scarcity, and contribute to reduced greenhouse gas emissions through improved carbon storage and decreased breakdown of organic material.

Responsibilities

The main focus of the position is outreach and relationship-building work aimed at increasing the number of wetland measures in the county. You will actively engage in dialogue and collaboration with landowners, farmers, and other stakeholders to raise interest in establishing or restoring wetlands.

Part of the role involves processing various types of support for wetlands. The work encompasses the entire process, from information and guidance to administration and follow-up of implemented measures, and takes place in close collaboration with outreach work to enable more applications and more measures.

The work also includes identifying suitable locations for wetlands, collaborating internally within the County Administrative Board, and participating in field visits and information initiatives. Depending on the needs of the operation and your competencies, other tasks within the unit's area of responsibility may also be included, such as work with environmental monitoring, water management, and action programs for threatened species.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • University/college education in natural sciences (e.g., biology, ecology, physical geography) or equivalent education
  • Knowledge of wetlands and wetland measures
  • Experience in nature conservation and/or agricultural issues
  • Driver's license (B)

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in outreach work and advice towards landowners and farmers
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS or equivalent GIS tools
  • Experience in wetland restoration work

To succeed in this role, we see that you are self-driven and proactive with the ability to move work forward in a structured and strategic manner. You are communicative, attentive, and have an easy time building trusting relationships. You thrive in dialogue with different stakeholders and can adapt your communication according to the target group and situation.

You have good administrative skills, are results-oriented, and can make well-founded priorities even when conditions change. The role requires flexibility and you should enjoy the variation between office work and fieldwork. The work involves being in forests and terrain, which requires that you can move freely in natural environments.

Conditions

To ensure quality and efficiency in the recruitment process, we use an electronic application form in collaboration with Varbi for all job openings. Please fill in your application as carefully and accurately as possible to provide a fair representation of yourself.
